We are proud to announce that we have two teams going to the VEX IQ World Competition in Louisville, Kentucky from April 19-24th.  Students from 26 different countries will be participating in the event. We will not only be representing Glenkirk Elementary and Gainesville, but also the United States of America.  There are only 2 other Elementary schools in the county who will be going.

Here are some pictures from the event!

National Bike to School Day

We are only a few weeks away from the biggest SRTS event of the spring:
National Bike to School Day!
This year, National Bike to School Day falls on Wednesday, May 4.
Let's see how many bikers Glenkirk Elementary can get this year.

Safe Routes Survey

The National Center for Safe Routes to School asks for your feedback.
Safe Routes to School (SRTS) programs are sustained efforts by parents, schools, community leaders and local, state, and federal governments to improve the health and well-being of children by enabling and encouraging them to walk and bicycle to school.

SRTS programs examine conditions around schools and conduct projects and activities that work to improve safety and accessibility, and reduce traffic and air pollution in the vicinity of schools. As a result, these programs help make bicycling and walking to school safer and more appealing transportation choices thus encouraging a healthy and active lifestyle from an early age.
